TOPICS AND TENSIONS WITHIN CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY
The last two weeks of class we will be focusing on contemporary world issues primarily related to geography. These weeks will provide a fantastic introduction to what we will be studying next year and provide us with an opportunity to openly discuss and learn from each other about important issues facing the world today.
You have been divided into four groups of 5-6 students and each group has been assigned a specific topic. All of the instructions can be found in the word document below. Each group is essentially responsible for two tasks, (1) a presentation of the topic to the class lasting about 25-30 minutes and (2) providing 5 guiding questions related to the tensions arising from your topic to the teachers for the Socratic Seminar the final day of class. The documents below the assignment instructions are to help you build your background knowledge on the topic and develop questions for the class discussion (similar to a Socratic Seminar).
Please come see us if you need any assistance or have questions!
