KNOWING STEVE JOBS...

This is going to be a short research project about the life and legacy of Steve Jobs; not only to know him better but also to understand what, how and why he has changed and revolutionized our world.

The main purpose of this project is to know more about this important person of the 20th and 21st centuries. But there are some more interesting  objectives involved with this activity...

  • learn to research
  • prioritize and select information,
  • get used to using different types of sources
  • organise the information obtained in order to be useful to the initial purpose
  • present the information in an appropriate way to be easily understood by the others

STEP ONE:
WATCH THE DOCUMENTARY VIDEO ABOUT HIS LIFE
 WHILE TAKING NOTES (individual)

Watch the video while taking notes about the most relevant aspects of his life. This is not going to be the only source of information but it´s one the most attractive since it is visual and includes several opinions and different points of view.

You must take notes to collect information about the following aspects:
  • Essential, and if possible, relevant biographical aspects (When, where....was he born...? first educational influences...)
  • First important design or invention and its relevance, why was it so important for the rest of his career?
  • Friendship and association with someone else that would help him to develop his career and life
  • Importance of trips in his life (what type, where, when...?)
  • Did imagination, creativity, and hard hard work have something to do with his career...?
  • Will and hard work against other´s opinions...?
  • His contributions to computers and technology as they relate to the world and industry
  • What were his major contributions to our lives?
  • What was the key to his success... what about the mixture between creativity and technology...?
  • His legacy

STEP TWO:
READ THE BIOGRAPHICAL TEXT AND VISIT THE WEB ABOUT HIS LIFE WHILE TAKING NOTES (individual)

Read the handout carefully about his biography and take notes about the most important and relevant facts and events that affected his life and that contributed to create his character.
  • What were his personal skills or values that allowed him to pursue his dreams?
  • What were the circumstances that facilitated him in becoming what he became?
  • Has he changed the world ? How?
  • What is his legacy?

STEP THREE:
CREATE A POWER POINT POSTER FOLLOWING THE MODEL GIVEN

 (group work)

This is the final step in which the previous work is reflected in a visual way, it must include all the relevant information that we have collected during the former steps.

At the end we will upload all the PowerPoints created by the groups.
