RENAISSANCE

This is just a reference to the Renaissance that I couldn´t avoid upload. I think you will enjoy it... Please have a look at it.

UNIT 8: SPANISH HEGEMONY IN THE 16TH CENTURY

Here you have a video about the Catholic Monarchs. It is about the character of Isabella I and it talks about the authentic crusade they carried out against Islam with the conquering Granada. It is interesting because it shows real texts (transcriptions) from that time.

This is a short film (mostly music and written information) about the queen Catherine of Aragón, the first queen consort of King Henry VIII of England. Catherine was the youngest daughter of the Catholic Monarchs and her marriage was part of their foreing policy through marriage alliances.
This is a short video, in this case in Spanishs, about the Spanish Empire, it explains its formation and characteristics. We hope it helps you to understand better this period.
This video is about Charles I. It, it is quite long and it is in Spanish -it´s difficult t o find interesting videos of this period in English- but it is very clear and quite complete. It is a real review of the European history of the first half of the 16th century.
This video is about Philip II. It, it is quite long and it is in Spanish - as I have said, it is difficult t o find interesting videos of this period in English- but it is very clear and quite complete. It is a real review of the European history of the second half of the 16th century.

Guns, Germs, and Steel

Following is a three-part documentary produced by National Geographic based on a book by Jared Diamond. Although lengthy, they provide a fascinating perspective on the origins of inequality and power in our world today. Episode 2 pertains to the conquest of the Americas.

THE CONQUEST OF AMERICA

Here you have the first of a series of videos that show how America was conquered by the Conquistadors. This is about Hernán Cortés and the conquest of the Azteca Empire. You can follow the others by clicking in the next part once in You Tube
Here you have an interesting video presented by John Green, this teacher always gives you another point of view and a short time to enjoy. Watch it and you will check it!!

The video in this case is about the Spanish Empire and it is also a great review of the unit.
The video some of you saw in class about 25 incredible things about the Incas.... Really interesting...

Henry VIII and his wives

This is a funny song that tells the story of the six wives of Henry VIII
